ADVERB OF FREQUENCY

         Adverb of frequency adalah kata keterangan yang digunakan untuk menyatakan frekuensi kegiatan seseorang misalnya selalu, sering, kadang-kadang, dan tidak pernah. Kata keterangan ini khusus digunakan dalam kalimat Simple Present Tense. Perhatikan letaknya dalam kalimat.

How often do you usually exercise? I lift weight every day. I go jogging about once a week. I exercise three times a week. I don’t exercise very often/ very much.	Do you ever watch TV in the evening? Yes, I almost always watch TV after dinner. I sometimes watch TV before bed. Sometimes I watch TV before bed. I seldom watch TV in the evening. No, I never watch TV.	always almost always usually often sometimes seldom hardly ever almost never never

Dari contoh di atas dapat kita simpulkan bahwa adverb of frequency ‘always, almost always, usually, often, sometimes, seldom, hardly ever, almost never, dan never’ diletakkan antara subyek dan kata kerja, kecuali sometimes dapat diletakkan di depan sebelum subyek atau antara subyek dan kata kerja. Kata keterangan lain seperti every day, once a week, dan three times a week dapat diletakkan baik sebelum maupun sesudah kalimat. Contoh:
1.    Siti goes to the library three times a week. atau
2.    Three times a week Siti goes to the library.

Kerjakan, Ubah kalimat dengan menggunakan adverb of frequency dan adverb yang terdapat di dalam kurung pada setiap kalimat pada tempat yang tepat.

1. A : What do you do on Saturday morning (usually)

    B : Nothing much. I sleep until noon.

2.    A  :    Do you go bicycling? (ever)

       B  :    Yeah. I go bicycling on Saturdays. (often)

3.    A  :    How often do you play sport? (usually)

       B  :    Well, I play tennis. (twice a week)

4.    A  :    What do you do after class? (usually)

       B  :    I go out with my classmates. (about 
                three times a week)

5.    A  :    How often do you exercise (= berlatih)? 
                (usually)

       B  :    I exercise. (seldom)
